Hi! I’m Chrissie Lam—the founder of Love Is Project. In 2012, I left my job in corporate fashion and moved to Kenya where I met a group of women in the Maasai tribe. These women made vibrant, high-quality, and gorgeous beaded items. Blown away by their craft and compassionate community, I worked with these artisans to design a bracelet emblazoned with one powerful word: LOVE.
Why LOVE? Well, in a world that can feel heavy, divided, and discouraging at times, there is only one thing that helps us to thrive—LOVE. It’s the single common thread that connects us all. So, with one small idea and one bracelet, I founded Love Is Project.
Fast-forward to 2014 and 50 countries later, a collection of LOVE stories began to unfold. It always started with the same question: What does LOVE mean to you? After sharing stories on social media of people wearing this special bracelet, supporters around the world felt moved to get involved.
With each bracelet sold, Love Is Project empowers thousands of female artisans in developing countries around the world through fair wages, healthcare, education, and more, paving the way to a positive future ahead.
What started as a personal passion project, blossomed into a global movement.
At first, we just worked with artisans in Kenya, Indonesia, and Ecuador because all three countries sit on the equator line—symbolizing how LOVE connects us all, through one global rotation.
However, we now work with artisans in 10 countries and provide jobs and new opportunities to 2,000 female artisans across the globe. One bracelet at a time, we’ve been able to impact the lives of thousands through job opportunities, financial freedom, and charitable donations. We believe in meeting the moment whenever a community needs our support.

✓ In 2018, we donated 1,600 LOVE bracelets to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as a symbol of support & solidarity in the wake of the tragic school shooting.
✓ In 2019, we sponsored the 20th Anniversary Marathon in Lewa, Kenya, focusing on efforts in wildlife, conservation and community.
✓ In 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we:
• Launched our LOVE Grows Program , a long-lasting initiative to empower locals to grow their own farming practices and skills so families can thrive—physically and economically.
• Donated a portion of proceeds from the India Collection to ACCESS Development Services, an organization in India that strives to create sustainable livelihoods and support poverty reduction in India. We also donated masks,sewing machines, supplies, and food to our artisan partners in Uttar Pradesh.
• Funded food gardens in partnership with RENEW Bhutan as an extension of our LOVE Grows Program.

We went on a wild journey in late 2020 and appeared on Shark Tank ! Episode is airing January 15, 2021. Be sure to tune in. Because nothing says love like dragging your 70 years old mom out of retirement to help with operations and finances, I brought her on the show too! ;-)
We’re expanding our product offerings, woohoo!
After launching our first-ever book documenting LOVE stories from all over the world, The Greatest Love Story Ever Told , we’re launching a second edition very soon! These stories give you a first-hand look at the unique cultures, talented artists, and inspiring people who teach us what it means to LOVE and all the ways you can LOVE.
